Leadership Report

Mother’s Day

This Sunday, 12th May, is Mother’s Day. A day to celebrate the women in our lives who love us unconditionally and would do anything to protect us. When our students reflected on why they love their mothers, few mentioned material things like a big house or the best toys; they mostly mentioned the cuddles and kisses their mum gives, the time their mum spends with them, the way their mums care for them and the food mum cooks. Thank you for being such wonderful mums to our students. You are all doing a wonderful job. We wish all the Mothers and Mother figures in our community a very happy Mother’s Day.

We hope all our families loved our special Mother’s Day liturgy hosted by Year 5 and Kindergarten. We had some special performances from our school choir and also from our Eistedfodd Dance groups. Our P&F also hosted a very special Mother’s Day stall and raffle. It was a huge success, and we hope all our Mothers love their special gifts on Sunday.

A huge thank you to all our parents, staff, community members, and businesses who continue to support our beautiful school. A special mention to Emma Hockham, Justine Reedy, and Hayley Guffogg who spearheaded the Mother’s Day stall and Raffle and who have been working tirelessly for months, and also to Mrs Lulham, Mrs Dedal, and Mrs Toole for organising such a wonderful liturgy and performances. Lastly, to Ashley Sargeson for all the beautiful flowers given to mothers today and all the individuals and businesses who supported our stall and raffle.

2024 Enrolments

This week, we have also been promoting our 2024 enrolments and have received lots of interest in 2024 and mid-year enrolments in our beautiful school. Thank you to everyone who has liked, shared and/or commented on our Kindergarten 2024 Facebook post; an extra Mother’s Day raffle ticket was put in the raffle box for you. If you know anyone who is planning on joining us in 2024, make sure they know about our Kindergarten Open Night on May 18th.

P&F

On Wednesday our P&F met to discuss many aspects of the school, including our P&F models, new Behaviour Management Policy, Compass, Uniform, Friendraising, Fundraising and the Tell Them From Me survey.

It was great to get some constructive and positive feedback across a whole range of areas the school has been working on, and the different committees have been working on. Notably, the fundraising committee is working on a big K-6 parent night at Laurieton Hotel, and the Fundraising Committee spoke of the excitement around the Mother’s Day Raffle and the upcoming Lego Brickfest Fundraiser of which a few more volunteers would be great.

Significantly, a motion was passed to use some of the school’s fundraising money to purchase a new sports/excursion shirt for every child in our school (ETA beginning of Term 4). The idea is that this will support all families financially and all students will then look the same when we represent the school at sporting events, excursions or at public events where high visibility is important.

Eistedfodd

Congratulations to our fabulous Dance teams who competed at the Taree Eisteddfod Schools Dance section last Friday. Our dancers have been practising hard all year to learn an Infants dance choreographed by Carlie Dedal and Samara Koenig and also a Primary dance choreographed by Leah Toole. We would also like to thank our fabulous helpers on the day such as Jess Koenig, Bec Faddy and Amy Bender and the many parents who helped with hair, makeup and dressing. The teams shone on stage and showed such confidence in performing their dance routines as a group. It was a tough competition with many schools competing with high-quality routines. We were very proud to achieve third place for our Primary group. All dancers are congratulated on representing our school so beautifully, and it was so exciting to see them all perform again for us after our Mother’s Day liturgy. We look forward to more performances again throughout the year and continuing to perfect our routines for the next competition in September. Amazing work!

Best wishes from the leadership team
