At St Joseph’s we develop the whole person by providing a range of programs and activities to cater for students’ diverse interests and talents. Some of these programs are provided by external tutors and others are developed and carried out by the staff of the school. We provide a wide range of clubs to suit the many different interests our students have. As such we allow our students to explore and develop and grow ideas.
Band and Music Tuition: All students are provided with the opportunity to participate in our school band program or guitar group from Year 3 to Year 6. Lessons are held within school hours by professional music teachers and students are encouraged to partake in band practice before school once per week. The band and guitar group enjoy performing at school functions and local community events. These optional lessons are coordinated by St Joseph’s and incur a small fee to cover external tuition and books.
Dance Club: All primary aged students are welcome to join the St Joseph’s Dance Club. Students are encouraged to assist in choreography of dances and are provided with opportunities to perform at local eisteddfods.
Choir: Choir is open to all students from Kindergarten to Year 6. Students participating in choir have the opportunity to perform at school events, church masses and local community events including the annual Christmas Carol celebrations. Students prepare and maintain garden beds, plant and grow a range of seasonal vegetables. They watch the growing process and discuss the importance of plants in our world as well as learning about the science of plants. Students learn about how pesticides affect important insects and instead learn and use worm farms as fertiliser and look at selection planting. Students with the fruit, vegetables and herbs they grow cook food using our well-equipped canteen.
