This week, we have noticed a sharp rise in health-related absences, including in our staff. There is a gastro bug that has affected many classes, the flu, and several cases of COVID. Today we were also notified of a case of hand, foot and mouth disease in the infants.
Please be aware that it is a requirement to keep your child home if they are sick.
NSW Health provides the following advice:
- Gastroenteritis: children attending childcare or school should be excluded from attending for 48 hours after the resolution of symptoms.
- COVID 19 -7 days isolation for Covid Positive cases and household contacts
- Hand, foot and mouth disease: children should be excluded from school or childcare facilities until their blisters have dried-up, and any rash (if present) has gone and any fever has settled.
Please keep your child at home for the period expected by NSW Health (above) if they have a temperature, sore throat, other flu symptoms, vomiting, diarrhoea or blisters on their hands, feet, mouth or body.
At school, all staff and students are sanitising regularly, practising good hygiene and talking about all the ways to stay healthy. Extra cleaning is happening across the school. Wearing masks is still an option.
