Leadership Report

Turning Tragedy into Triumph
Over the last 4 months three students from Year 6, Adam Tunhavasana, Roman Reithmuller and Jack WIlson, have been working with Mrs Alfina Jackson on a STEM-MAD project. STEM MAD is designed to acknowledge and promote STEM learning initiatives that address real-world problems and demonstrate how students in Catholic schools take action that matters, by designing a service, product or innovation to make a difference (MAD) to others or the environment.
Based on their flood experience in 2021, the students decided to create an early warning system for the school that detected water rising in the drains, sending a warning signal to the office.
Their design was judged last week, and they won! The team will now take their prototype to Melbourne to compete in the Nationals!! Congratulations!
Grandparents Day Celebration
A big thank you to everyone who was able to come along and join in on our Grandparents Day celebrations. It was such a beautiful day watching the children spend time with their special people. Make sure you check out this week's episode of "A Pod Of Joeys" to listen to a special dedication to our grandparents. This can be found below within the newsletter.
Thank you to Miss Ebert for creating this special tribute video.

Wrapped with Love Knitting

Today we were joined by many parishioners and grandparents, who helped our Mini Vinnies Team to learn how to knit. They will knit squares which will be sewn together to make blankets as part of the Parish Wrapped with Love initiative. Some of the volunteers will return on Tuesdays at 11am to keep supporting these children.

Tell Them From Me Survey

Today families will have received our school’s “Tell Them From Me” survey. This survey replaces the DOLSIS survey from years gone by. It is a much shorter survey and easier to read. Along with the student and staff surveys, the data from this survey will be analysed and will be used to guide the School Improvement Agenda over the next few years. We are aiming for at least 75% of families to complete the survey to ensure we get a broad picture of our school community.

If you haven't filled the survey in, please go to this link to complete it:

Whole School Write

Over the past couple of weeks, we have presented the same writing stimulus to all our students in K-6 to create an independent piece of writing. We do this at the beginning of each term. This allows us to see how each student engages in the writing process with minimal teacher input and to assess students' growth and achievement in writing.

This assists our planning in English units and for support and extension in writing. This term, our students have been engaged in writing a persuasive text about why it is important to put rubbish in the bin. After watching some educational videos and discussing some images of environmental problems, students had lots of ideas and persuasive arguments to use in their writing.

For extra motivation, we will be selecting some of the best writing samples to present in our own short clip/podcast to share with our community. We hope to share this with you soon.

Best wishes from the leadership team
