Eistedfodd
It has been a very exciting and busy week at school. Our Eistedfodd dancers have had many extra practices in the lead-up to today’s performance, and we look forward to hearing about their wonderful experience. We thank our teachers, especially Mrs Toole, Bec Faddy and Mrs Dedal for the preparation that has gone into this special day.
School Survey - Please Complete
On Monday we began our annual survey called “Tell Them From Me” with students in years 4-6 completing these. We are seeking at least 60 families to respond to our parent survey. If we get about 60 surveys completed, it will give us some accurate data on how we are going as a school and what we can do better. Your feedback last year helped us to make our 2023 School Goals and implement strategies to support our students. This year your feedback will help us to develop our school goals for 2024-2026. Please take the time to fill it in. http://tellthemfromme.com/2023sjlaurieton
PRIZE TIME: To encourage our families to complete the survey we have told our students that if we can work together to get 60 families to respond, we will have a special treat for every child.
Uniform
On Monday night, our uniform committee met to discuss the new sports/excursion shirt design. At the meeting, we refined previous ideas and are now in the process of having them professionally designed. The new sports/ excursion shirt will look similar to this design:
We are aiming to start the rollout in term 4 ready for our 2024 Kindergarten students. The idea is that the sports/ excursion shirt will be worn with the new navy shorts or skorts on Thursdays, sports days and excursion days.
At this same meeting, the committee discussed feedback on the long navy pants, and we are seeking a second navy blue option for children with longer legs. No decision has been made here.
Traditionally, the school moves to a winter uniform on the June long weekend each year. As we are planning to start the first rollout of the new school uniform around 19th May (if our deliveries all arrive in time), the school will officially transition to winter uniform or new uniform on Monday, May 22nd 2023.
Please ensure your child is in the correct all-black shoes every day (except sports day -Thursday). Please also tie up shoulder-length hair to avoid nits and correct any mullets or shaved hairstyles that need attention after the holidays.
Reconciliation and Eucharist Reflection Night
On Wednesday we held our Reconciliation and Eucharist reflection night. We ask you to pray for the following students who are preparing for these special Sacraments.

Mother’s Day Stall, Raffle and Liturgy
We would like to acknowledge the mammoth amount of work that has gone into preparing our Mother’s Day Stall this year. We are so lucky to have wonderful P&F members who have sourced many beautiful products from local businesses to sell at this stall. The stall will be open to the children on Thursday morning. In addition to this, we will have the stall open to the school community after the Mother’s Day liturgy and also on Friday for any leftover stock. All these wonderful businesses have also donated to our Mother’s Day raffle, and we have amazing prizes so make sure you get your raffle tickets.
Our staff have also been preparing for our Mother’s Day Celebrations, and we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all Mothers, Grandmothers and mother figures in the lives of our children.
Best wishes from the leadership team

Men's Bowls Afternoon
About 12 men showed up for the men's bowls afternoon, and we had a successful day with much merriment. Afterwards, we kicked on to Laurieton pub for dinner and some games of pool. Due to its success, another is planned, so men should stay tuned not to miss out on the next one.
Kind regards

The Term 2 eSports competition started this week with 8 Stage 3 students dancing it out for a spot in our eSports team. This week, we rehearsed Can't Stop the Feeling from Just Dance 2023.
