Leadership Report

Eistedfodd

It has been a very exciting and busy week at school. Our Eistedfodd dancers have had many extra practices in the lead-up to today’s performance, and we look forward to hearing about their wonderful experience. We thank our teachers, especially Mrs Toole, Bec Faddy and Mrs Dedal for the preparation that has gone into this special day.

School Survey - Please Complete

On Monday we began our annual survey called “Tell Them From Me” with students in years 4-6 completing these. We are seeking at least 60 families to respond to our parent survey. If we get about 60 surveys completed, it will give us some accurate data on how we are going as a school and what we can do better. Your feedback last year helped us to make our 2023 School Goals and implement strategies to support our students. This year your feedback will help us to develop our school goals for 2024-2026. Please take the time to fill it in.  http://tellthemfromme.com/2023sjlaurieton

PRIZE TIME: To encourage our families to complete the survey we have told our students that if we can work together to get 60 families to respond, we will have a special treat for every child.

Uniform

On Monday night, our uniform committee met to discuss the new sports/excursion shirt design. At the meeting, we refined previous ideas and are now in the process of having them professionally designed. The new sports/ excursion shirt will look similar to this design:

unnamed_2_.png

We are aiming to start the rollout in term 4 ready for our 2024 Kindergarten students. The idea is that the sports/ excursion shirt will be worn with the new navy shorts or skorts on Thursdays, sports days and excursion days.

At this same meeting, the committee discussed feedback on the long navy pants, and we are seeking a second navy blue option for children with longer legs. No decision has been made here.

Traditionally, the school moves to a winter uniform on the June long weekend each year. As we are planning to start the first rollout of the new school uniform around 19th May (if our deliveries all arrive in time), the school will officially transition to winter uniform or new uniform on Monday, May 22nd 2023.

Please ensure your child is in the correct all-black shoes every day (except sports day -Thursday). Please also tie up shoulder-length hair to avoid nits and correct any mullets or shaved hairstyles that need attention after the holidays.

Reconciliation and Eucharist Reflection Night

On Wednesday we held our Reconciliation and Eucharist reflection night. We ask you to pray for the following students who are preparing for these special Sacraments.

Sadie Butler

Yasmin Cain

Willem de Vries

Angelina Fragomeli

Polly Hampson

Maxi Harris

Adrijana Reithmuller

Lincoln Todd

Nina Patrzala

Over the next few weeks, we will be seeking an “Angel Choir” to practice and sing at these special occasions on Thursday 25th May 5 pm and Sunday 18th June 9 am. Your support and prayers are greatly appreciated.

2024 Enrolments

This week, we have also been promoting our 2024 enrolments and have received lots of interest in 2024 and mid-year enrolments in our beautiful school. Thank you to everyone who has liked, shared and/or commented on our Kindergarten 2024 Facebook post. We will get out an extra Mother’s Day raffle ticket to all these families before next Friday. If you know anyone who is planning on joining us in 2024, make sure they know about our Kindergarten Open Night on May 18th.

Mother’s Day Stall, Raffle and Liturgy

We would like to acknowledge the mammoth amount of work that has gone into preparing our Mother’s Day Stall this year. We are so lucky to have wonderful P&F members who have sourced many beautiful products from local businesses to sell at this stall. The stall will be open to the children on Thursday morning. In addition to this, we will have the stall open to the school community after the Mother’s Day liturgy and also on Friday for any leftover stock. All these wonderful businesses have also donated to our Mother’s Day raffle, and we have amazing prizes so make sure you get your raffle tickets.

Our staff have also been preparing for our Mother’s Day Celebrations, and we would like to extend a very warm welcome to all Mothers, Grandmothers and mother figures in the lives of our children.

P & F Fundraising

Mother's Day

The school would like to thank Emma, Justine, Hayley, and Chaney for the fantastic work they have been doing behind the scenes for our P&F Mother's Day stall and Raffle. The businesses working with this committee are providing excellent and affordable gifts for our families. We know all our Mothers and Grandmothers will be excited for their Mother's Day presents this year. There will also be an opportunity after the Liturgy for adults to purchase from the stall.

Mother's Day Raffle and Stall 2023

Dear parents and carers,

This year the P&F is excited to announce we will be holding a Mother's Day raffle as part of our annual Mother's Day stall. We have been extremely lucky and have had many generous and beautiful gifts donated by our local small businesses. Tickets can be purchased on Flexischools under the Mother's Day stall and raffle section and are $1 each. Tickets will also be sent home for those who would like to sell to family and friends and money can be dropped into the office.

This year we have stocked our Mother's Day stall with quality gifts from many of our local small businesses and within the next week, we will be sharing prices and information on the presents available to help assist with how much money you would like to send in with your children.

As well as having a stall set up for the children to buy from at school on Thursday, May 11th we will also be keeping the stall open during the Mother's Day morning tea for adults to purchase items for themselves or their loved ones. We will also have the stall open on Friday afternoon 12th May from 2 pm till after assembly for adults who were unable to make it on Thursday!

This year we are also offering the ability for parents to buy stall gift vouchers for their children to spend at the stall as an alternative to sending their children in with money; these can be purchased on Flexischools.
Your child will receive a voucher to take into the stall with them and will be assisted in spending the full value of the voucher at the stall by our volunteers. If you are wishing for your child to purchase gifts for multiple people, the purchase of multiple vouchers will assist volunteers to help your child pick out gifts for multiple people if needed.
Parents are also welcome to purchase vouchers for themselves to spend at the stall on Thursday and Friday as an alternative to getting cash out.

We are very excited about this year's Mother's Day stall and cannot wait to see all our wonderful mums and mother figures getting spoilt!

About 12 men showed up for the men's bowls afternoon, and we had a successful day with much merriment. Afterwards, we kicked on to Laurieton pub for dinner and some games of pool. Due to its success, another is planned, so men should stay tuned not to miss out on the next one.

Kind regards
