This week we welcomed Evie to our school. Evie joins the Year 3 class and has already met some lovely friends.
This week the preparations for production ramped up and this will continue next week. So many hours go into a production like this, and we’d just like to take the opportunity to thank Allstars Studio teachers who finished their choreography work with all the classes this week. There will be many more Thank You's after the big days and nights next week. At St Joseph’s, we are so blessed to have so many talented staff, students and parents. We have added detailed information about the show and night arrangements later in the newsletter. Please read it carefully.
Below is a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of our backstage crew.

Our production progress was not halted on Wednesday when power blew in the electrical pole outside our school. We were able to adapt quickly and continue lessons and rehearsals. Thanks to a range of local tradespeople, we had power restored that afternoon.
On Wednesday, our STEM-MD team returned from three days in Melbourne, where they presented their winning “Flood Warning System” at the National Catholic Education Conference. The students, Adam Tunhavasana, Roman Reithmuller and Jack Wilson have received many commendations from our Lismore Diocesan Directors and staff who were in attendance at the conference. The team were finalists in the “Best Application of Maths in Context” section and won the award for “Best Engineered Product”. Thank you to Mrs Jackson for your planning that went into taking three students interstate for three days and all your work in STEM.

On Thursday students joined with the parish choir to practice singing for the first sacrament of Eucharist this Sunday. Students and parishioners sang beautifully together and are all looking forward to coming together again this Sunday.
On Thursday, the Bravehearts Ditto show arrived at our school to teach all of Kindergarten to Year 2 about staying safe. The show is free for our region thanks to the wonderful work of local Bravehearts Committee members who know how important this sort of education is for young children. Every child took home a booklet so that parents can support their children and have a conversation about safe and unsafe feelings and actions.

On Friday, Ciara Hoare and Jack Wilson travelled to Newcastle to represent the Diocese at the Polding Athletics Carnival in 800m/1500m and Shot Put, respectively. We look forward to hearing about their results next week.
This weekend our beautiful Miss Ebert will become Mrs Dedal. We wish her all the best on this very special day. We know she and Brendan will be very happy together and hope the day is filled with love, laughs and not too many tears.
We also wish Lachlan Wilson, Oliver Hallum, Eadie Whatson, Leah Hayward, Lachlan Hyland, Eli Walker, Mitchell Hoare, Bradley Cook, Zarli Jolley, Heath Wheeler, Ilukah White, Finlay Toole, and Freddie Letters many blessings as they make their First Holy Communion at 9 am on Sunday at St Peter the Fisherman. All are welcome to join us for this special mass.Best wishes from the leadership team

Newsletter week 8- PRODUCTION INFORMATION
We are busily preparing for week 9 which will be our much anticipated SHOW WEEK for our whole school Production “Never Ever Land”. Please read the following information carefully as it contains essential information that you need to know regarding you and your child/ren’s involvement:
Costumes:
Please ensure you have sent in to school any basic costume requirements for the items/roles that your child is doing. Please clearly label and put into a plastic bag (clear zip lock bags work well). Bring this in as soon as possible and no later than Monday 12th September.
Show week.
All students are performing in every show and rehearsal as follows.
Monday 12th September 9-3: Technical rehearsal. All students required at different times throughout the day
Tuesday 13th September: 9-12: Actors dress rehearsal. 12-3 Whole school dress rehearsal
Wednesday 14th September 12-2 Matinee Performance. All students required. Parents and friends are welcome to purchase tickets.
Thursday 15th September: Normal school day. Students remain at school after the 3pm bell with their classes. Students will get dressed in their costumes at school ready for the first show by 3:30pm. Students will wait in their classrooms in between their performances (infants in the library together) . Food for dinner will be provided free for the students in between performances. Students remain at school with their classes for the second performance at 5:30pm. Students will be ready to be picked up at the conclusion of this performance at around 7pm (exact time to be confirmed) from their respective classrooms.
Food for Thursday: Please send an extra snack for your child to eat for afternoon tea at 3pm. Dinner is provided as a sausage sandwich and fruit. Please send an alternative if your child does not eat this. Audience members are also able to purchase a sausage sandwich between 4-6pm for a small cost (please bring cash).
It is expected that all students are available and participate in all of the rehearsals and performances during this week.
Tickets:
There are still some tickets available for each show. Tickets can be purchased through Flexischools or by contacting the school office. Tickets are $10 each.
Video:
We can not allow any video or photography from the audience during our shows. We will take many photos of each performance and class groups and will make these available to parents after the shows. We are also very excited to announce that we will be professionally filming our show again this year and the edited videos will be available to purchase for a very reasonable cost. Patrick McKendry has filmed all of our Productions for many years and does a wonderful job producing a quality video on DVD/USB that all our families and students enjoy watching for years to come. Information about how you can order this will be available shortly.
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact our school office or Jess Koenig.
This Production has only been possible with the collaborated efforts of all staff, many parents, dedication of each and every one of our students and the hard work of some of our wider community members such as Allstars Studio, for which we are very grateful.
We are so excited to take you on a magical adventure to Never Never Land and showcase the many talents and joy of our students!
Thank you for all your support.
